Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, ‘Mother of the Nation’, Chairwoman of the General Women’s Union (GWU), President of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood and Supreme Chairwoman of FDF, aimed at driving family stability and societal harmony for the elderly.
On the occasion of the International Day of Older Persons, H.E. She also reiterated FDF’s enduring dedication to furthering Her Highness’s goal of leveraging all available resources to care for the elderly. This ambitious strategy includes a highly comprehensive system of policies, programs, and targeted initiatives to enhance the wellbeing of older community members.
Mariam Al Rumaithi stated, "The International Day of Older Persons, which falls in October, is an annual event recognised by the United Nations General Assembly. It is a seminal occasion for showcasing and honouring the indelible contributions made by elderly citizens towards the society, while passing on their wisdom and experiences to younger generations. Since the formation of the United Arab Emirates, the nation has remained committed to supporting the elderly, honouring the sacrifices they have made for their country and families, enduring several hardships. Our country offers them robust care and support to promote their psychological well-being, comfort, security, and social adaptation, ensuring they always feel valued. This is vital to driving their social integration and positioning them as integral facets of the nation's sustainable development journey alongside the younger generations."
She also shared her optimism regarding the positive feedback collected as a part of the statistics and studies conducted by FDF, reflecting exceptional levels of responsiveness to the needs of elderly citizens and residents. The studies also revealed the presence of a supportive environment that is conducive to the enhancement of their stability and wellbeing, across various regions of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi like Al Ain, and Al Dhafra. These findings further reaffirm the foundation’s vision to forge strategic partnerships with both public and private sectors, thereby expanding its reach throughout the Emirate, while fulfilling the objective of facilitating family stability and social cohesion for all individuals.
